Values
Everyone is welcome.
"The Glory of God I a human being, fully alive." -St. Ireneus. Whoever you are, wherever you come from and wherever you're going, God loves you. We'd love to journey alongside you.
Justice is our calling.
We serve our neighbors through ministries to the homeless, including a shelter, showers, laundry and meals. Every Sunday we give the proceeds of our collection plate to causes and non-profit organizations near and far.
Story is how we grow.
At Christ Church we encourage people to wrestle with the Bible and our ancient Christian tradition from the perspective of their own stories of God out in the real world.
Care is our community.
Pastoral care includes prayer, meals, rides, visits, and listening ears for those experiencing illness, grief, change, everyday challenges, and a wide variety of small-group gatherings. We walk with one another in love.
Worship is our heartbeat.
Our worship blends Episcopal tradition with vibrant music, silence, and shared prayer. Choirs, bells, and congregational song invite people of all ages into God’s presence.
Youth are our teachers.
Through Sunday School, youth group, and all-ages worship, young people lead, question, and help shape our faith community.

Our church services have two big parts: Word and Table. The first part includes readings from the Bible, a sermon, and prayers. After a short announcement time we bless bread and wine as Jesus did so often with his friends, and we share them together, gathered around the altar. This is called communion or Eucharist (which means Thanksgiving, in Greek, because we’re fancy like that.) Our liturgy is based upon the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, which has been in use in various forms for nearly 500 years. We also add contemporary elements to make sure you’re paying attention.

You’ll be greeted, but not overwhelmed. You can jump in right away or just sit back and take it all in.
Our services are about an hour and move through readings, a short sermon, prayers, and communion. It’s a rhythm that’s been around for a long time, with just enough modern touch to keep you engaged.
You don’t need to know what to say or do. Just follow along as you’re comfortable. Everyone’s figuring it out together.
Kids are welcome. Questions are welcome. You can participate fully or simply be a quiet observer.
Afterward, people stick around for coffee, snacks, and conversation. It’s a low-pressure way to meet folks or just ease back into your day.
Come as you are. Really.

Episcopal theology is a method. To answer questions we weigh input from three sources of authority: Scripture (the Bible), Tradition (what the church has taught through history), and Reason (our experiences out in the world). Because the third leg of this stool is subjective, Episcopalians span a range of beliefs. Hence the joke: Where two or three Episcopalians gather, there are four or five opinions.
Because our theology is a method, we’re not very doctrinal. We don’t keep a definitive list of beliefs on which we can look up the answer to things. The closest we get to that is the brief Catechism in the Book of Common Prayer.
Another way to approach this question is to come to church with us. We say that praying shapes believing, which means that common prayer - worship - is the heart of what we do. It expresses our values and beliefs. In short: we believe that God loves you--no exceptions.

Yes. You’re more than welcome to lurk quietly to find a moment of peace in this crazy life.
