About Christ Church

A community where everyone belongs.

Christ Episcopal Church is a welcoming, inclusive community in the heart of Alameda. We gather each week to worship, to share our stories, and to grow in faith together. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and shaped by a commitment to justice and compassion, we strive to follow Jesus’ way of love in our neighborhood and beyond.

Wherever you are in your journey, curious, returning, searching, seeking deeper connection, or wanting to be baptised, you are welcome here.

Our mission

At Christ Church, our mission is to gather, transform, and engage. We gather people into an open and affirming community where every person is welcomed and valued. We are transformed by worship, scripture, prayer, and the stories we share with one another. And we engage the world with compassion, service, and advocacy, extending Christ’s love to our neighbors in tangible and meaningful ways.

Rooted in the Episcopal Tradition

Christ Church is part of the Episcopal Church, a Christian tradition rooted in ancient worship, thoughtful faith, and a deep commitment to justice and inclusion. As Episcopalians, we value questions as much as answers, honor the dignity of every person, and believe God meets us in scripture, sacrament, and community. Our worship follows a rhythm shaped by the Book of Common Prayer, blending tradition with creativity, beauty, and shared participation.

We welcome people from many backgrounds and experiences, cradle Episcopalians, those exploring faith for the first time, and everyone in between. Wherever you are on your journey, you are invited to belong fully here. For the bigger picture, read up on what Episcopalians believe.
