The Acolyte Program

Our acolytes serve God and our parish during liturgical services. They act mainly as crucifers and torchbearers. In addition, they assist the clergy and lay ministers during the Offering, and in preparation for the Eucharist.

Acolytes remind us of our responsibility to the future of the church, which is the children. Children as well as adults are ministers of Christ.

Service, as an acolyte can be an important part of Christian education. During the service, the Acolyte Director instructs the children in the use of the Prayer Book and the Hymnal. The meaning of various liturgical activities is also explained. Therefore, it is important to be able to sit quietly, concentrate, participate in the service, and to be ready to perform an assigned task.

I am very proud of each of our 25 acolytes, and I appreciate the support their parents give to our program. This dedication, enthusiasm, and dutiful service is an important ministry to Christ Church.
